Hassan Tower and columns in Rabat

Capital city

Rabat, the quiet capital.

Gardens, ramparts and royal monuments on the Atlantic, calmer and greener than Morocco’s other great cities.

About Rabat

What to know before you go.

Rabat is Morocco’s capital and its most relaxed imperial city. The historic centre and modern quarters together are inscribed by UNESCO as “Rabat, Modern Capital and Historic City: a Shared Heritage”.

It rewards a slow day: palace gates, a whitewashed kasbah above the river mouth and a Roman-era necropolis softened by storks and wildflowers.

Don’t miss
