Your route

Day by day.

Timings are a flexible guide, not a fixed schedule. Youssef adapts each private departure to conditions, opening hours and your pace.

  1. Day 1

Marrakech · Aït Ben Haddou · Dadès

Cross the High Atlas, explore Aït Ben Haddou on foot and pause for lunch near Ouarzazate. Continue through Skoura and the Valley of Roses to a Dadès guesthouse for dinner and overnight.

  2. Day 2

Dadès · Todra Gorge · Merzouga

Stop at a Dadès viewpoint, then walk at Todra Gorge before following the Tafilalet oases to Merzouga. Reach the dunes for sunset and transfer by dromedary or 4x4 to camp for dinner and the night.

  3. Day 3

A full day around Erg Chebbi

Slow down for a dune walk, oasis landscapes and a respectfully arranged Khamlia music visit with local hosts. Try medfouna for lunch, and choose optional sandboarding or a short 4x4 circuit. Spend a second night at a dune-edge lodge or camp.

  4. Day 4

    Merzouga · Rissani · N’Kob · Draa Valley · Ouarzazate

Visit Rissani market when the operating day aligns, then travel through Alnif and N’Kob to the palms of the Draa Valley. Continue to Ouarzazate for dinner and overnight.

  5. Day 5

Ouarzazate · Ounila Valley · Marrakech

Choose Taourirt Kasbah or a film-studio visit according to your interests and opening conditions. Follow the Ounila and High Atlas landscapes, adding Telouet only when road and timing permit, before returning to Marrakech.

Wondering what guests say? Read live Tripadvisor reviews

  1. Community and music visits are pre-arranged and fairly compensated; there are no surprise home visits or pressured shopping stops.
  2. This route reduces the pressure of the classic three-day itinerary, though Days 1 and 5 still include mountain driving.
  3. Driving times are estimates and can change with traffic, weather, roadworks and mountain conditions.
  4. Accommodation category, exact inclusions and room configuration are confirmed in your personal proposal.
  5. Pack a small bag for your night at the desert camp; larger luggage can stay safely in the vehicle.
  6. Desert temperatures change sharply by season. Camp heating, air-conditioning and private-bathroom availability depend on the selected camp category.
  7. Families are welcome, but child seats, walking tolerance and long drive days should be discussed before booking.
